چکیده

Abstract. By a classical result of Kazdan-Warner, for any smooth signchanging function f with negative mean on the torus (M,gb) there exists a conformal metric g = egb Gauss curvature Kg = f , which can be obtained from a minimizer u of Dirichlet’s integral in a suitably chosen class of functions. As shown by Galimberti, these minimizers exhibit “bubbling” in a certain limit regime. Here we sharpen Galimberti’s result by showing that all resulting “bubbles” are spherical. Moreover, we prove that analogous “bubbling” occurs in the prescribed curvature flow.

On the Prescribed Scalar Curvature Problem in R , Local Uniqueness and Periodicity

We obtain a local uniqueness result for bubbling solutions of the prescribed scalar curvature problem in R . Such result implies that some bubbling solutions preserve the symmetry from the scalar curvature K(y). In particular, we prove in this paper that if K(y) is periodic in y1 with period 1 and has a local maximum point at 0, then a bubbling solution whose blow-up set is {(jL, 0, · · · , 0) ...

CFD simulation for segregation behavior of a ternary mixture in a bubbling fluidized bed: effect of solid wall boundary condition

Abstract The effect of the solid–wall boundary condition on the segregation behavior of a sand ternary mixture differing in size but having the same proportion has been investigated in a gas–solid bubbling fluidized bed. A multi-fluid computational fluid dynamics model incorporating the kinetic theory of granular flow has been used. The mass fraction profiles of the different-sized partic...

Determination of Cluster Hydrodynamics in Bubbling Fluidized Beds by the EMMS Approach

The local solid flow structure of gas-solid bubbling fluidized bed was investigated to identify and characterize the particle clusters. Extensive mathematical calculations were carried out using the energy-minimization multi-scale (EMMS) approach for evaluating cluster properties including the velocity, the size and the void fraction of clusters in the dense phase of the bed. The results showed...

A Statistical Study of two Diffusion Processes on Torus and Their Applications

Diffusion Processes such as Brownian motions and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes are the classes of stochastic processes that have been investigated by researchers in various disciplines including biological sciences. It is usually assumed that the outcomes of these processes are laid on the Euclidean spaces. However, some data in physical, chemical and biological phenomena indicate that they cann...

Investigation of Keel Curvature Effect on the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a V-Shaped Planing Surface

In this paper, three-dimensional two phase turbulent free surface flow is solved by an in-house code. The incompressible Reynolds average Navier-Stocks equations (RANS) with k-ε turbulence model are solved by the finite volume method in the non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinates. For the modeling of the free surface effect, Lagrangian propagation volume tracking method (VOF-PLIC) is used. The c...
